So now that bluApple 2.5 has been released it is time to look at ideas for bluApple 3.0.
Database:
bluApple 2.5 was ment to support any database though the use of an ORM. I'm currently using one
by Nick Tunney, that he created long ago called ObjectBreeze. But now that CF9 is out, I am thinking
about ditching it for the built in CF ORM. I really want some input if you think this would be good or bad.
There is no real way to make bluApple backwards compatible. Once we go CF ORM, It will place a requirement
for CF9 or higher. Which is where I want your thoughts. Please comment on this blog about it or send me a message about what you think.
API:
It looks like it is finally time to create some real structure to the API. I bluApple 3.0 will have a very expendable API. The API is already very usable, but it is far more hidden and not documented as well as I'd like. I really want anyone that uses bluApple feel that bluApple has an api equivalant to a "jQuery" type of API.
New Mods:
Blogs: We now have a blog mod, that is built into 2.5, that will stay, however I really want to beef it up a bit more.
Mod Finder: I am hoping by the end of this year, and by the time that bluApple 3.0 is release that we will have a wide variety of mods available for download. I am thinking about adding a Mod Finder / Mod Updater to the core of bluApple that will easily allow you to find Mods that other developers have created. Let me know if you think this is a good idea, and if you would like to contribute to t he mod lib.
Mod Builder: The mod builder will be a starting point for building your own modules for bluApple. Realistically I want this to be as simple as possible and give you a barebone module to work off of.
Media Manager:
Every CMS needs a Media Manager, The goal of this one is to allow not only upload of your own media into bluApple but a way to grab your media from other platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr etc...
New Addons:
Skadoosh: I know that no one knows what skadoosh is yet, but it will be out soon enough. It is a real time javascript event engine. It is going to be a breaking point for bluApple that no other CMS will have. This will let you do really cool features like, real time chat, real time twitter, facebook, myspace updates. The sky is the limit and I really can't wait till it's completed and integrated. Skadoosh will be available from the somethingJava website, it was created by Adam Green. I don't have an official release date. But I've already seen a glips of what it is capable of and I will tell you first hand that it will "WOW" you.

Comments:
I originally built bluApple as a personal utility to rapidly produce websites. Over several years it has slowly grown into a respectable CMS tool. I feel that with support from the community, bluApple Coldpress can become a contender as one of the top CMS products on the market.
